Sophie and Barkley’s puppies are home

May 14, 2022Sophie and Barkley‘s puppies are home now with their forever families and getting the love and care they deserve. We’ve only heard good reports! We’re thankful to each of these four families that chose us and this litter for their next family member. We want to say how much we appreciate each family and the team that helped raise and condition these pups for a great life. Because of this litter, we are able to give $1,200.00 to Amazima Ministries to help some kids in Uganda live and learn.  Happiness all around comes from this great litter of pups! (If you’d like to see more of what goes on at our house, check out our Instagram page.)

May 9, 2022 – We’re on the home stretch with these boys!  They had their vet visit today and did very well. No car sickness, no crying. The pups all had a great report from the vet. They are all doing well in the crate (mostly) for their naps, and we’re also separating them for short periods of time in their pen alone so they get more used to be apart. It’s all good conditioning! We’re continuing to work on leash training and manding (learning to sit for attention) and conditioning them to their crates.  They’re all right where we expect at this age!  Here are their pictures, along with their weights from the vet. A little info about personalities. . . It’s tough because this group really seems a lot alike. Their temperament tests show all are all almost the same. Personalities will begin to show more over the next several weeks as they adapt and are influenced by their new humans and the environments they go home to.  We see that pups that go home to a very relaxed, structured environment will be more calm and relaxed.  Those that go home to a louder home with lots of activity will pick up on that energy for sure (like a house full of energetic kids).  These pups track their humans, stay close and will develop personalities based on the demeanor and energy of their humans.

All are doing great at leash training and settle down quickly in the crate now. (Sometimes they might cry a few minutes, not long though. ) They all love to be held, snuggle and are affectionate.  They are all equally brave with sounds and new experiences.  Their temperaments are scored as highly adaptable, easy to train and equally submissive.  They are all equal in intelligence.  We see Ivory as the most confident and the leader in the group. That is common because of his size, being the biggest. Not always, but often they become the alpha leader.  Here they are!

April 30, 2022 – Sophie’s puppies are continuing to develop and gain weight! We love how plump they are! This is what happens in a litter of only four, lots of milk to go around. They are calm and quiet (mostly) and doing well. We are working on crate training now (not too quiet in the crate yet!) and they are exactly where we want them to be. Socialized already, conditioned to “scary” sounds and eating and active. They love their humans and being held is their favorite thing. Here they are after a bath and blow dry, all fluffed up.

April 24, 2022 – This week we’ve seen lots of change and growth in the pups. They started eating mushy kibble, and they are now having daily playtime outside of their pen.  They’re learning to explore and chase and becoming more brave.  Sounds don’t bother them at all anymore and they are calm with things that would normally startle. They’re also learning to settle down in a crate for naps. They typically only cry for a few minutes now. They are bonding well with humans and though, they still prefer mama, they love to be held. Their coats are becoming more thick and you can see that they are more alert now.  We’ll post video of them playing later in the week. Watch the Instagram feed!  Here they are at five weeks old.  Adorable, or what?

April 14, 2022 – Finally we got a chance to post their individual pictures so that you can see who’s who. They are doing very well and this week we are working on sound desensitizing and litter box training and we’ll start them on puppy mush to give mama a break. They are good eaters and you can tell how plump they are!

April 10, 2022 – Sophie’s pups are doing very well. Mama is great with them and being only a litter of four, they eat very well and are nice and plump!  They are still mostly sleeping and eating, but soon they’ll be wrestling and playing more.  We’ll post individual photos of each puppy later this week so you can see who’s who.   Here are some quick photos taken of them this weekend.  They’re going to be beautiful dogs!

March 31, 2022 – Sophie and Barkley’s puppies arrived on March 19, right on time and everybody is doing well! We have four healthy boys and mama is doing an excellent job with them. We have themed this litter our Sophie’s Soapy Litter, and we welcome to our world Suds, Tide, Zest, and Ivory. Here are pictures taken of them today at almost two weeks old.  We’ll update this blog post about once per week and once they’re active and moving about a lot more (at around five weeks of age, we’ll post videos of them on Instagram.
